We launched a new bread this past week, Roasted Garlic & Olive Bread, and it was pretty good, if I can make that bold claim myself. Tim said it was his new favourite bread before he had even tried it! We’ll try it again this week and I hope it remains on the roster of breads we do regularly. The other hit at last Saturday’s market in Quesnel were the chocolate and ginger scones – one person described eating hers as “a culinary moment”! I like to hear that! I’ll make the same kind again for both Quesnel and Wells markets this coming weekend – that means I don’t have to think of what flavour to make the scones this week, and I haven’t yet had time to get out and pick huckleberries. Get to the market early to get your scone(s) – they sell quickly.
We have another VIP guest arriving this evening – my favourite mother. She thinks she is going to “loaf” around for a week, but I have other things planned for her. One of those things is going out to pick some huckleberries – I’d love to have her repay at least SOME of the slave hours I spent as a child picking blueberries in the woods of Northern Ontario! And then I can make huckleberry scones for you all – yum!
