We have had a great holiday – it was good to have a break from the bakery, and to visit with friends and family. It was also great to eat a lot of chocolate and cookies, and to drink a lot of rum and eggnog, wine, and beer. Alas, we are back to the grind today, but hoping to put some new good habits into place: more yoga and skiing, more alcohol.

Yesterday a car-full of us drove to Prince George through a snowstorm to see Cirque du Soleil’s “Dralion”. It was fantastic and worth the long and harrowing drive. We were treated to incredible clowning, awesome acrobatics, feats of unbelievable human strength, flexibility, and courage, fabulous live music, gorgeous and creative costuming and sets, and groovy dancing. What an amazing company, and it all began in Baie St Paul, a small town in Quebec (Tim and I were there in 2012: they also have a great brewery AND an inspiring wood-fired bakery – it must be something in the water!). After being to the circus, Tim has suggested that I learn to stretch (i.e. juggle) pizza dough whilst suspended from the ceiling, in some fancy outfit, with my feet behind my head. Since I am The Bread Peddler’s marketing director, not he, I have vetoed that recommendation on the grounds that we will lose patrons, not gain them! I may one day learn to stretch pizza dough by throwing it into the air, but rest assured, fine patrons, I will spare you the rest of the gore!

We hope to get a lot more skiing in this winter than last. Yes, skiing does make me THAT happy.
