Hot off the press Tuesday evening: 6 packs of Easter-y goodness – Hot Cross Buns (made with home-made candied lemon peel, a bit of sourdough, some other stuff, and lots of love). They will also be available in Quesnel at the two official Bread Peddler suppliers: Green Tree and Bouchie Lake Country Store.
We are preparing for a whirl-wind day tomorrow – baking over 180 loaves of bread to go to customers in Wells, Quesnel and Williams Lake! We haven’t done that many loaves in one day since the Christmas Farmer’s Markets, and I must admit, I am a little nervous. The Bread Peddler’s bread has been improving in quality over the winter: with less stress on a baking day to produce quantity, we have been able to work on quality. Actually, I guess it is just that the extra months of experience have not been wasted: we have learned, and we will continue to learn for years to come!
We had a fun pizza party on the weekend for the staff and owners of Green Tree Health & Wellness in Quesnel. They have been selling our bread through thick and thin since we opened last July, and we wanted to give them a big Thank You!
Yes, I got the income tax done: it has been a while since I have had a new business, and just getting all one’s ducks in a row is time-consuming. I kind of like book-keeping in some weird way, but I really would rather be outside riding my bike or skiing. Maybe that’s why taxes are due at the end of April – CRA knows the weather is crap in Wells in April, and so at least 150 people in Canada will have their taxes done on time!
