I forgot to post the week’s highlights yesterday. Here they are: It snowed a LOT, the power went out, we baked in the dark, it got REALLY cold, we went cross-country skiing – twice!

And so it begins.
And so it begins.

My morning commute.
My morning commute.

Baking in the power outage. Who needs BC Hydro, anyway?? (Well, I did earlier in the day when I was mixing all that dough, but that was then).
Baking in the power outage. The timing was perfect: I noticed the lights starting to flicker in the late morning so I got all my mixing done as quickly as possible. By the time the power was out all that was left to do was bake the bread!

All of a sudden it's really winter. Looking at the back of the bakery and the back of the massage garage from the back deck of the house.

  1. … that’s the beauty of a wood fired oven – you can still bake bread during a power outage. We even had a class once by candle light with pizza and everything during a power out; was a very happy group!
