Business as Usual.

This week’s business:

Tues Nov 4, 4 to 8 pm: Bread sales fresh from the oven at The Bread Peddler
Wed Nov 5, 9 am : Bread delivered to Green Tree Health & Wellness, Quesnel – get there ASAP, it’s selling fast!
Wed Nov 5, 4 to 8 pm: Pizza Night at The Bread Peddler – delicious wood-fired pizza with sourdough crust!

We still seem to be working 7 days a week, but only baking 2 of those days! How does this happen? Self-employment is bliss, I tell ya! Anyway, not to complain TOO much, we are doing some fun things: Tim has taken the new (old) mixer apart and I have been scrubbing the life out of it. I have finally used the whole box of steel wool that has been in the back of my drawer for the past 20 years. That was a good investment back then – I’m sure the price of steel wool has sky-rocketed lately. Tim is also building a new bread rack for Green Tree Health & Wellness in Quesnel. This will save them having to find shelf space for us every week, and the rack can be wheeled away when all the bread is sold.

The new mixer is about to get a good scrub.
The old mixing beast is getting a good scrub (the bowl has been taken off).

  1. And you picked this up on the west coast? This is an anchor / log boom winch for a 36 metre tug boat; somewhat common on that coast.

  2. Holy cow!! You are brave people! However, now that you know the beast inside/out, can you do mine, too? Yeah, self-employment … plus you get to pay for all your benefits yourself, too; and you can take as much holidays as you want; you can pay yourself a really hefty salary oh, yeah, then there is all those tax deductions and since stat holidays are on Fridays and Mondays you can do all your baking on those days and charge double overtime for Saturday and Tuesday deliveries. Right?
