All our breads are:

  • Made with freshly-ground Certified Organic grains and Certified Organic flour, giving them superior taste and quality.

  • Leavened with home-made sourdough starter (consisting only of organic flour, water, and naturally-occuring yeasts and bacteria), giving them great taste, longevity, and ease of digestion.

  • Baked in a wood-fired brick oven – with steam – at temperatures between 450˚F and 620˚F, giving them fantastic crust and crumb.

  • Hand-formed and hearth-baked, making them look and taste the way bread ought to!

  • Commercial yeast, dairy, and egg-free!

Spelt-Date-Walnut (when supplies permit)

Spelt is an ancient form of wheat, and some find it easier to digest than today’s wheat. Everyone finds it flavourful! The dates and walnuts in this bread make it a very tasty loaf indeed.

Desmond

Our latest addition to the family – “desem” is a Dutch/Flemish word for a whole-grain sourdough culture, and the bread that results from it. Desmond is The Bread Peddler take on it. Simple and delicious: wheat, salt and water. A nutty taste with a caramel-coloured crumb.
